Happy September!

Guess who got Back-To-School-Cold 2: Electric Booger-loo…IT WAS ME!!! I swear this is the worst case of terrible back to school germs that I have ever experienced. I do not recommend, and truly, I want to know what I did to deserve having this terrible cold TWICE. Thankfully it’s almost Fall Break for me – so I get two weeks of October to pretend I am a full time author…and hopefully get Sidekicks 2 done!!!

What Have I Been Up To In September?

Remember me saying I was working on RaineFall 2 and Sidekicks 2 at the same time last month? LOL that did not last long…because I have FINALLY figured out my problems I was having with drafting Sidekicks 2 (turns out it needed more than Nikki’s POV) and the words seem to have exploded out of me. As of right now, I am at the point where I should finish the first draft by the end of October, which puts me on track for a summer launch next year! But don’t worry, Jack’s story is also in the back of my mind and RaineFall 2 will be my next project and I’m still on track for that ALSO to be a 2027 release.

And then…a SECRET PROJECT. I actually can’t give you more details than that. I’m currently under a NDA (so only the people I’m working with and my new editor know) but when I can talk about it more…I promise you’ll be the first to know! And when I tell you it’s EXCITING, I really mean IT’S EXCITING!!!!!!

I Love You, It’s Ruining My Life: All The New Records

When I say that this has been my best release EVER, I mean that. And I couldn’t have done it without you! I am so thankful, and I have cried so many happy tears over the past month, that so many people have loved Kameron and Nalini.

  • Total Books Sold (not counting SYKD): 63 (previous record: 10)
  • Total Physical Books Sold: 30 (previous record: 4)
    • Preorders: 14 (previous record: 0)
  • Total Ebooks Sold (not counting SYKD): 35 (previous record: 12)
    • Preorders: 24 (previous record: 6)
  • Books in Libraries: 3 (previous record: 0)
  • KU Page reads in a month: 12,015 (previous record: 1,410)
  • KU page reads in a day: 1,131 (previous record: 700)

I know these probably look like rookie numbers to some, but with all of my records being blown out of the water, I can’t help but be grateful for what has become the best book launch of my life. Thank you all for being a part of these – and remember these numbers might change! There’s still a few days left in the month!!!

Today is my Author-versary!!!

Three years ago today The Witching Hour was first published. It was my first book, born from my MFA thesis. I did absolutely everything wrong in publishing it. But I loved it anyway.

I’ve learned a lot since it first came out. I have a (kind of) brand now. I’ve learned how to do all the things I didn’t do for its release. And even though I have released seven books since this one, The Witching Hour is still the one readers give the most love to.

Happy Birthday to my first book baby.

And as a treat to all of you…the ebook is free for TODAY ONLY!!! So go grab your copy HERE!!!

Juliet Pictures of the Month

The puppy was cute again this month! And she’s finally grown out of her initial post-shelter shave that she’s about to get groomed again! But until then, enjoy the absolute floof that she is right now!

Book I Loved This Month:

An Appreciation of Cats by Des DeVivo

THIS BOOK IS SO SHORT AND SO SWEET. Later in life (one is in his 50’s and the other in his 70’s) romance with two adorable vet leads and one up and coming retirement sparks feelings. I love it so much, and I devouring Des’ writing. They have such a charming style and I cannot help but recommend it to everyone.

Also shout out to Danie for recommending it! 15/10 any of her book recommendations. You can get An Appreciation of Cats now, and I highly recommend you do. Perfect cozy fall vibes.

Book Spotlight: The Wizards of Wildfell Hall omnibus

Are you looking for a book about a magic school that ISN’T written by a TERF trying to take away people’s rights? Well good news: I have a whole series for you.

All five novellas are in this edition, and it’s SO pretty in person (if I do say so myself…it’s the first of my covers I’ve ever designed). And the best part? They’re short and cute, so you can easily read all five books relatively quickly!

Sloth Fact of the Month:

Sloths can starve to death on a full stomach – if they get to cold, their stomachs will just stop digesting!

I just passed 25k in my draft of Sidekicks 2, so I am hoping to give you more news in October, so stay tuned!!!

XOXO ~ Ash

That sloth fact is deeply distressing and I didn’t need to know it 😂 But congrats on blowing your old sales records out of the water!

When she’s not creating her own worlds, she’s teaching teenagers to fall in love with books as an English teacher.
